International Drug Trafficking Investigation
Six individuals have been charged following a major investigation into an organised criminal network operating between the UK and Thailand. The arrests follow the detention of two 17-year-old boys from Cardiff in Thailand this June, who were allegedly caught attempting to transport 64kg (141lb) of cannabis back to the UK.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Three men—Levi Coomansingh, 20, Patrick O'Driscoll, 30, and Gareth Press, 42—appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Friday. They face charges including conspiring to evade the prohibition on the importation of a Class B drug and conspiring to arrange the travel of another with a view to exploitation. O'Driscoll also faces a charge of possession of a firearm.
Ffion Bowes-Cavanagh Hooley, 24, has also been charged with drug importation offences. Additionally, police have confirmed that Tremaine Jeanne and Jessica Sani have been charged with drug importation and human trafficking-related offences, with a court appearance scheduled for 11 August.
Support for Detainees
South Wales Police confirmed that the two teenagers remain in custody in Thailand. They are currently receiving support from their families and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The investigation remains ongoing, with a 23-year-old man from West Yorkshire currently released on police bail.
