Police officers and crime scene investigators were deployed to a property in Seaham on Friday, September 4, following reports of "suspicious activity." Upon arrival at a flat located above the Filthy's deli on Stockton Road, officers uncovered a large number of cannabis plants.
Authorities have since dismantled the cultivation site and launched an ongoing investigation into the matter.

The discovery forced the independent business below the flat to temporarily alter its operations. While the deli has since reopened, it has been restricted to takeaway services, with the bar area remaining closed.
In a statement, the owners of Filthy's expressed frustration over the incident, which they described as being "completely outside of our control." The business noted that the disruption has had a "very real and damaging impact" on their small operation, though they emphasised that all pre-booked functions and events would proceed as planned.
