Police raid Liden property
Wiltshire Police have launched an investigation after discovering a suspected cannabis farm at a residential address in Ridge Nether Moor, Liden. Officers initially responded to reports of a potential burglary in the early hours of Wednesday, August 12, but discovered approximately 150 cannabis plants upon arrival.
Four arrests made
One individual was arrested at the scene on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. Following a search of the premises, police located three additional suspects hiding in the property's garage, all of whom were subsequently arrested on the same charge.
Ongoing investigation
A police cordon remains in place at the site to allow for forensic examination and to ensure the property is secured. While Wiltshire Police continue their investigation, the incident highlights the ongoing reliance on prohibition-based enforcement. Critics of current policy argue that such raids, while targeting criminal operations, underscore the urgent need for a regulated, legal market that could eliminate the involvement of organised crime and improve public safety standards.
