Police raid former Latchford pub
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested by Cheshire Police following the discovery of a cannabis farm at a former public house in Warrington.
Officers were called to the site of the former Golden Lion pub on Knutsford Road on Wednesday, September 23. Upon entering the premises, police seized an unspecified number of cannabis plants and associated growing equipment.

The teenager remains in custody and is being held on suspicion of cultivating a class B controlled drug and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
While the discovery highlights the continued focus on illicit cultivation, advocates for reform argue that such operations are a direct consequence of the UK's current prohibitionist model. By maintaining a criminalised market, the government cedes control to unregulated actors, whereas a regulated, legal cannabis market could eliminate these criminal enterprises, ensure product safety, and generate significant tax revenue for public services.
