Derbyshire police have seized more than 200 cannabis plants after uncovering two separate grow operations in Alvaston and Linton on the same day.

175 plants found at Linton Heath property

Officers forced entry to an address on Linton Heath, Linton, on Monday 29 June and found around 175 plants ranging from seedlings to mature crops. A full-scale cultivation set-up was discovered after the front door was breached.

One man was arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation. Police documented the scene and removed the plants as evidence.

Community tip leads to Alvaston discovery

Later that day, officers attended a property on Excelsior Avenue in Alvaston following intelligence from the public about a possible grow at the address.

Entry was gained using specialist equipment and officers recovered 63 plants from inside the residential property.

A force spokesperson said the raid was made possible by information supplied by the community, and thanked officers involved in securing access to the premises.

Two farms, one day

Combined, the two operations accounted for more than 200 plants across Derbyshire in a single day of enforcement activity.

Cannabis cultivation remains illegal in the UK outside tightly regulated licensed frameworks, and police continue to encourage residents to report suspected grows through local channels.
