Enforcement Action in Nelson

Officers from the Prosper Partnership and local Neighbourhood Policing Teams executed a drugs warrant at a property on Hardy Court in Nelson this Wednesday. The operation, which followed reports from members of the public, resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of cannabis plants and £97,000 in cash.

Arrests and Investigation

Two men, aged 20 and 27, were taken into custody on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply and money laundering. Both individuals have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

This latest raid highlights the ongoing focus of local forces on dismantling illicit cultivation operations. While police continue to target these sites, reform advocates argue that the current enforcement-heavy approach fails to address the underlying demand for cannabis, suggesting that a regulated, legal market could better manage supply, reduce the influence of criminal networks, and generate significant tax revenue for public services.
