The Incident

Merseyside Police have arrested a 21-year-old man and two boys, aged 14 and 15, following a burglary at a residential property in Poulton Close, Halewood. Officers were alerted to the scene at approximately 9:30pm on Sunday, 18th October, following reports of individuals armed with crowbars.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a damaged fence and window, alongside a large-scale cannabis cultivation. A trail of soil left at the scene led police directly to a nearby address, where the suspects were apprehended.

Evidence Seized

During the subsequent search of the property, officers recovered a pillowcase containing cannabis plants and several snap bags of the drug. Additionally, police seized three electric bikes, an electric scooter, a mobile phone, and a flick knife. The suspects remain in custody on suspicion of burglary and possession with intent to supply a controlled Class B drug.

Policing Priorities

Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Robert Budden stated: "Our officers will always act on any reports we receive about illicit drugs being stored in our community and we will continue to proactively find and remove these harmful cannabis farms."

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of the illicit market, where unregulated production creates risks of burglary and violence. Reform advocates continue to argue that a regulated, legalised market would remove the profit motive for criminal gangs and reduce the need for such high-risk enforcement operations.

Reporting Information

Merseyside Police encourage the public to report suspected drug activity via their website, through social media channels @MerPolCC, or by calling 101. Anonymous reports can be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
